Looking for food: Birmingham

Are you stuck at work but looking for a place to eat?

This range of article will explore some of the best places to go across the United Kingdom. Next up we're looking at Birmingham.

Often regarded as England's second city, Birmingham has some amazing options for food. Let's explore the best of them.

Grand Central Kitchen

This is a small, easy-going outpost serving classic English breakfast alongside wraps, pizza & sandwiches. One reviewer said: "We had breakfast there 2 days running as we were there for the weekend. It was fabulous, greeted us with a smile and a handshake, and showed us to our table, the food was very reasonably priced, the portions more than enough and was very tasty, I didn't take a pic of my full English on the first day but I did of the house omelette (choose 3 toppings) with toast it was around £8 ish. Highly recommend."

Land Restaurant

This is a Polished space serving international plant-based dishes using seasonal ingredients. We spoke to a number of diners with one saying: "My partner booked us an eight course tasting menu, but with the pandemic we couldn't make it they understood this and gave us a voucher for next time. A little on the pricey side, but the food was amazing and all vegan! They offer wine that pairs with the food."

The Meat Shack

Customers will get cooked to order hamburgers & fries in a rustic and see contemporary interior with wall art. It is a place adored by locals. One told us: "Amazing burgers! Fabulously cooked with the slightest char on the meat that added to the flavour along with the saltiness of the Shropshire blue cheese and the slight sweetness of the candied bacon, added to the fresh salad and soft brioche bun, this burger was a triumph. The fries were hot and crispy. The selection of craft ales was also a perfect addition to the meal. We called without booking a table so the only downside to our visit was the tall table and bar stools we had to sit at which was a struggle for us oldies - next time we'll be sure to book ahead. How good this look? This person clearly had a great day out in Birmingham

 The Wilderness

A modern British fine dining establishment that cooks with seasonal ingredients, serving in a calm space. One reviewer added: "Absolutely amazing place. Great vibe/decor. Awesome soundtrack. The most delicious and well-presented food. The staff were happy and very knowledgeable. Not a single criticism. Everything was superb."
