Looking for food: Manchester

Are you stuck at work but looking for a place to eat? This article will explore some of the best places to go across the United Kingdom.

First up we're looking at the Greater Manchester area

Bundobust in Piccadilly Gardens

Bundobust Dinner

Vegan and veggie food that is sure to warm you from the inside out – Bundobust is an amazing place to go for lunch. There’s an express lunch menu of two dishes for £8.50, including the classic Bundo Chaat, a street snack of broken samosa pastry, and puffed rice, peas, onion, pomegranate, and tomato in tamarind chutney. Found on the edge of Piccadilly Gardens, the interiors are simple but cool.

Northern Soul on Tib Street, Northern Quarter

Northern Soul’s cheesy delights range from brie, feta, cheddar, and blue cheese – they do it all and stick it in a grilled sandwich. Extra sandwich fillers include pulled port, jalapenos, and onion chutney with sriracha glazed fries on the side – the best bit is, that they’re all under £10. This place is definitely worth a visit! What will you have on yours?

Katsouris Deli on Deansgate

It’s time to ditch the meal deal and put the BLT back in the fridge. Then you should head down to Katsouris Deli where the top quality sandwiches are priced between £4 and £7. Toasted ciabatta sandwiches come at half or full. Trust us, the half ones are not small. The deli boasts a sandwich menu of Mexican spicy chicken, Lamb Siciliana, Zorba the Greek and Supreme.

This n’ That on Soap St, Northern Quarter

A Manchester icon. It's arguably one of our best curry houses, and you will find it tucked down a little side street in the Northern Quarter. Delicious and affordable, This n’ That will become a new favourite lunch place – if it isn’t already. All the food is amazing. Most amazingly homemade and prepared using fresh whole spices with curry options changing daily.

Their menu works as follows – rice and three veg is £4.50. Rice with one meat and two veg is £5 and rice with two meat and one veg is £6. A fresh, homemade, bursting with flavour, steaming pot of curry almost spilling over. If you're a Manchester resident or worker, this could be your lunch every day. If you're not, it is certainly worth a look after a day out shopping.

Automatic Cafe in Bury

This is an independent cafe and bar with an upbeat vibe. They serve simple food from breakfast onwards. It has become popular with a number of people across Bury, especially as its next door to the Met Theatre. They offer a 'Workers Lunch' that consists of any Buddha bowl or pizza with a soft drink (or make it a glass of wine or 1/2 pils for an additional 50p).  The highlight of Automatic is the Chicken Strips. They have become a huge hit with everyone. We're still not sure what goes in the sauce, but we love it!
