Manchester news: Legendary bar announces closure
A popular city centre bar has announced its shock closure after 22 years in business.

The Font, on New Wakefield Street, will close its doors for a final time on 7th January They stated on Facebook that the rising cost of living, and the knock-on impact from the pandemic have taken an 'insurmountable toll' on the business in recent years.

The bar tweeted: "Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to all our staff, customers and friends past & present, your support has meant the world. All bookings will be contacted in time. Plus if you have any remaining credit on your app, you can still spend it at The Font Chorlton which will remain open."
Was one of the few remaining great places to visit in the Oxford Rd area - we've been visiting for the whole 22 years (eek!).

Joseph added: "So many great memories in here with my wife (we had only just got together 19 years ago and used to spend many lost Friday nights in here). Absolutely gutted."
Thirst Class Ale posted: "Very sad to hear this - spent many an enjoyable day/night in here over the years and Font were one of the first places to buy our beer when I started the brewery. Definitely feels like the end of an era."
