Looking for food: Edinburgh

Edinburgh has an incredible amount of food options.

What do you fancy?

Let's explore some of those.

The Haggis Box

This is a straightforward cafe with a positive vibe offering meat & veggie Scottish haggis, neeps and tatties. This video from Clan Broonford - YouTube explores this lovely little lunch place.

One recent tourist added on YouTube: "We visited Edinburgh a few weeks ago from the US, and we ate at The Haggis Box! It really was lovely, and we would absolutely go again."

Another YouTuber is looking forward to his visit: "I’ll definitely be going to The Haggis Box in September. I’ll be staying in Edinburgh for a whole month! I’m compiling notes I make from all your videos. I appreciate all your work and a never-fail positive attitude!"

Baba

This place aims to bring a slice of the Mediterranean to Edinburgh’s city centre. It certainly achieves that in our opinion. Jess M gave this review on Google: "Absolutely amazing!! I didn’t expect to find a restaurant like this in Edinburgh. Everything we ordered was incredible!"

Another review said: "This was a masterful culinary experience! The atmosphere is decadent - we were there on a night they took over rooms from the neighbouring hotel (which we were told they do when busy on the weekends). But the real show-stopper was the food. So flavorful, amazing texture combinations. Highly recommend especially for vegetarians."

The Broughton

Many Edinburgh based blogs tell potential customers to top off any order with a retro pudding. The world is your sweet, frozen oyster. One Google reviewer said: "Really great staff, lovely food and a great place to go on a Sunday."

Another person spoke with passion about the whole food offering. I can't fault the food, delicious starters - tomato salad and salmon , then haddock with poached egg, selection of ice creams for dessert and a cheese platter."

Urban Angel

Described online as a bright blonde wood bistro emphasising fair trade, organic and locally-sourced ingredients. One reviewer said: "Lovely spot for breakfast. We did not have a reservation, but they were able to seat us within 10 minutes on a busy Saturday morning. Lovely decorated tea rooms, very cozy and unpretentious."

Urban Angel

Another told us: "The food was great. The Urban Angel's brioche french toast was one of the best we ever had, this was the thanks to the soft and fluffy texture of the brioche toast."
